South Asian Opinionated Hijabi

Passionate Photographer, Aspiring Model, Influential Blogger and a Foodie

Welcome to my first ever blog post! My name is Nisma Aamir, I live in Karachi, Pakistan and I believe in sharing, connecting, creating and inspiring till you can't anymore! #create

The amount of ideas, how-to’s and inspiration whirling around in my head is ready to jump out. I wanted to start by telling you why I created this blog, what you will be seeing more of in my posts, and I want to let you know I appreciate you spending time here at the blog very much.

"I started out young, naïve and heart-broken, now I am motivated, educated and full of life; that's my little story"

My little story

How I started

Never fond of becoming a doctor, I left Pre-Medical and chose to follow the voice of my heart for once, and chose Media Studies. Always intrigued by the depth in media and arts, my interest in photography grew. I made a photography account with relatable captions.

Slowly and gradually, I started posting about my whereabouts and my daily life. it was very much appreciated by the Instagram audience located in Pakistan, as well as the international audience. I turned my public account into a blogging business account.

Hence, started my journey of blogging.

After doing much research and making friends with a few bloggers along the way, who have been so kind to offer much support and advice, I have become completely consumed with inspiration to run a blog of my own since 2.5 years.

What my blog consists of

I’m an opinionated South-Asian Hijabi, who runs a blog of her own.

My work not only involves the creation, it also involves planning and distribution. If someone visits my blog, they might find it pretty relatable, because I put in a lot of effort in the captions and my pictures.

Captions relating to people

My pictures revolve around my everyday lifestyle, the food I eat, the way I dress and carry myself. But, if someone looks deeper, the real strength is in my captions. Many a times, I have been complimented that they not only relate to the people but made them feel better, helped them out of a difficult phase, specially mentally. This motivated me to produce more content and connect better to my audience.

I started posting on daily-basis engaging with my audience more, collaborated and got sponsored by many brands. Currently, many women look up to me for inspiration and my lifestyle choices, which include but are not only limited to: styling the hijab (with eastern and western looks), food recommendations, speaking up on topics of mental and emotional well-being and spreading positive thoughts!

Current posts and collaborations

Creating content is not easy as it sounds. It takes the perfect timing to capture, the perfect moments to post and the perfect captions to relate to your audience.

Collaborations with:

Food Brands

Hijab Brands

Clothing Brands

Accessories (Jewellery, Bag and Shoe brands)

Skin-care Brands

Digital Agencies

Hijab Brands

Many national and international Hijab companies such as TheHijabCompany, Kef, Maidie, iweargazelle, hayahijabpk, The Hijab Shop, haya_99_haya, wearmumtaz, hijabistic_786 and more are doing a great job and have collaborated with me on promoting modest wear. I not only review these brands on Instagram stories, but also through IGTVS, Videos, Feed posts and also through WhatsApp stories!

Clothing Brands

I have been allotted with the opportunity to endorse clothing brands by being their Brand Ambassador show-casing their product-line.

For me, being loyal to the brand is the utmost quality, I not only review the products on my stories but also pair them with accessories and flats/heels best suited with the dress.

Modelling

From styling western wear and eastern wear, I slowly and gradually gained an audience which followed me because of how modestly I carry the hijab. Soon enough, I started gaining projects related to modelling, mostly related to abaya and hijab brands.

FOOD: My first love

My blog includes food postings as well. Almost every time, whether it is a family gathering or a friend's reunion, I was asked to recommend good places to eat. This not only encouraged me to try different kind of food items but to review them as well. Many a times, my Instagram audience has reached out to me and have extended their gratitude for recommending good food places; whether it be Chinese, Continental, Pan-Asian, and more.

Just today, even though due to the pandemic almost every restaurant is being shut down, I was invited for a blogger's food tasting. They not only provided us with amazing food but also really made the Drive-in tasting feel like a luxurious experience.

Blogging events such as Blogger's Meetups are not just an experience to eat their food and provide them with a valuable review but it is also very beneficial for social interaction.

In the very beginning, I kept to myself and barely interacted but with time I grew out of my social anxiety. Blogging meetups not only helped me grow out of my cocoon but they also enriched my mindset, helped me made true friends and develop the confidence I never knew I had.

Not only I got a chance to meet amazing influencers but also celebrities and high-profile people, who motivated art and creativity and believed in this mean of branding.

Since, I hold a lifestyle blog, I literally blog about everything I do. My everyday activities also cover my shopping spree, the reviews I give and then the counter-questions that are asked.

For example, today I went Khussa (Women’s sandals) shopping and randomly posted a snap. The response was so overwhelming because Eid is coming up and everyone wanted to suddenly jump on the bandwagon.

I then had to come home, review some of the pairs that I had gotten, along with the location of the place I had bought them from, their price range, the durability, the comfort level, etc.

Tips and tricks for you

So, I'm going to list down some tips and tricks that might help influencers to enhance their reach. I'm not here to preach but I'm a Pisces in nature and I love to help people, may it be a little!

1. Never get demotivated:

So many people start blogging but they stop at the very beginning stage. This is mainly because they get overwhelmed by other influencers. One thing to remember is that, you just started, they were there from a lot of time. It also took them a lot of time, efforts and dedication to reach there. You will too!

2. Stick to your niche

It can be very confusing of what to post, specially in the beginning. Whenever your posts seem unrelated to your niche or you feel disconnected to your blog, recall of why you started it and where you are now. Think of the reasons which keep you alive and motivated and put them into substance; whether it be writing, fashion, or poetry.

3. Never buy fake followers

After spending a quality time on a social media platform where the amount of followers dictate your authenticity, the numbers itself are not authentic anymore. Almost more than half influencers have or still apply fake followers. They seek it as a shortcut to gain more attention and PRs mainly. They forget that they lose authenticity, real engagement with their followers and a life-long connection with real people rather than fake bots. There is little use for followers who never engage with your posts.

4. Do not run after PRs

Some amateur bloggers join the industry just to receive free goodies or free food, forgetting the real purpose of blogging. If you review things, it should only be for the sole-purpose of mutual benefit for you and the brand you're endorsing. It doesn't have to be a PR always, it can be a collaboration as well. Work with an understanding with the brand, learn their pros and cons and provide them with a valuable feedback which will help shape their brand in a better way.

Ending notes..

I have so much more to say but I would like to conclude here as to not bore you. I hope some of the information I gave out proves to be beneficial to you, even if a little!

Blogging might seem like an easy task if looked from a stranger's eye, but in actual it becomes a full-time work which might totally consume you. It has it pros and its cons, both and you have to decide which one is better for you.

Lots of love,

Blogitwithnisma
